I am commenting on the photo. I like the American flag as the potting plant. Yes: how do you get to work every day, how do you plan on getting to work tomorrow, do you or have you ever purchased a bottle of water or anything made out of ANYTHING? Oh and when I us capitals, if you are reading it out loud, I would appreciate if you use volume to get my point across. My point is there are a lot worse companies then BP. They are a great company who is just supplying you with what you demand every day. Maybe they are not the Greatest they could be, but their at least trying. That’s a lot better then most companies. Were you down there cleaning up? Did you stop buying every thing you need on a regular bases. Do you think that would help the economy or those Animals? It is sad what happened to them however you yelling and well you through a temper tantrum won’t help them.

In a sense no one should be making comments about the BP oil spill. If your not helping, your not a solution, if your noy the solution, your the problem.
  That's coming from a 7th grade student...

I find it shocking that everyone is blaming Obama and BP for this. Who is it that needed the oil in the first place... YOU. In reality, as a root cause assessment, one could say that this disaster should be blamed on everyone who uses oil based products. If there was no demand for oil then BP would have never drilled the well. This should be a wake up call for everyone to change, not another case of "the evil corperation is to blame". That being said. This whole media blackout has me so frustrated that I'm actually posting a coment on a blog for the first time ever. How is it that BP can deny citizens fundemental rights and get away with it? I suggest a million man march to the beaches. They cant arrest everyone!

Oilbama owns this mess. He could've mitigated these damages by acting immediately to contain the oil and start sucking it up with what was offered by other countries and and own technology. He wanted this to get to this point to push his twisted political agenda. These poor innocent creatures are just the most recent victims of his highness and his administration. Remember in November!

I have been watching the BP feeds http://www.jtnog.org/ and on Sunday started seeing long stringy things. these turn out to be what is called Methane ice worms. and it turns out that the oil may be the least of our worries. Texas A&M scientists today found methane up to a million times normal levels today in the area of what is not a spill (it is an underwater volcano of oil methane and god knows what else). Google 'methane in the gulf'
I am really worried that opening up the two relief wells will just open up more wounds in the earth. I do not have faith that they can shut it down. What happens when all of that pressure under there is released? the whole thing caves in. It was the pressure that was keeping the sea floor up. They were nuts to start drilling in an area of tectionic plates. I don't live on the Gulf. But if I did I would move. I am not a fear monger. Just being realistic. there is a gaping wound in the earth. this is not just an industrial accident. Here is the most reasonable take on the situation and it comes out of Britain. http://www.guardian.co.uk/theguardian/2010/jun/19/naomi-klein-gulf-oil-spill
Looks like you have to cut and paste. Everyone should read this article.
And by the way, BP is one of these global companies. They are every where. And all they care about is profit. To them what are species extinction if they can make some money off of it. Please some one respond and tell me I am wrong. I would welcome that. I have no idea how people who live there are handling the stress. What a thing to expect people to handle. Unbelievable.

This is abuse not only of the gulf and everything that creeps, crawls, swims or flies over it. It is abuse of people and the planet. BP is interested, not in oil, but in profit. And all you's out there getting into your air conditioned SUV's and Hummers, they love you. Without you there would not be any profit. But this web site is not where gass guzzling petrol addicts would be looking tonight. So my apologies. Tony Hayward should be covered in crude and forced to lick it off with his tongue. And so should Sarah Palin. but I understand approval was given to start more drill operations. That Gulf is DEAD. Our lifestyle killed it. Humans are horrible things. Horrible, the most horrible species. I don't see how you all are handling the stress. You've got a whole population suffering Tramautic Stress Syndrome. domestic abuse is up 320% since this catastrophe began. I am so sorry. but this is what happens when human lifestyle becomes more important than every other living thing. Try eating oil. I would hope that this would create a lot of people who begin working to save the environment. But the way it is spinning out. It won't . I've lost hope. I have despair for the planet. Total despair.

This really saddens me, and being a huge animal lover it hurts to watch these birds gasp for air and all these dead dolphins etc. Really wish people could put aside their differences and stop putting blame on citizens. We should be raising h*ll with bp and be angry with them. Their still keeping all these secrets from people and in return were turning against each other. Just hope that we can put this company to an end and stop off shore drilling because this has been happening over and over again for years! So sad.

You are correct in pointing out that BP is a company, and is not the British government. And I will even make note of the fact that BP's chairman is Swedish.

Elwin,
I'm actually from the U.S., the state of Alabama. My daughter and her husband are at Orange Beach, Alabama tonight. Today they went on the beach and there were small tar balls everywhere. I hope you don't have BP stock in your retirement portfolio, because the share price has really tanked and I think there me be more losses to come, but I really believe strongly in what I'm writing.
